Gill, Iyer lead India's batting charge against Australia

Suryakumar Yadav smashed an unbeaten 72 off just 37 balls and captain KL Rahul chipped in with a quickfire 52 to join in the batting feast in the day-night game at Indore.

India, the number one ranked ODI team, are looking to seal the three-match series after winning the opening game in Mohali by five wickets.

The short series is serving as a tune-up for the sides before India host the marquee World Cup tournament at home next month.

Put in to bat, the hosts were off to a flying start despite losing opener Ruturaj Gaikwad for eight in the fourth over.

Iyer, 28, put doubts over his fitness to rest, hitting his third one-day century and sharing 200 runs for the second wicket with Gill.

Iyer got a reprieve on 101 when Sean Abbott (1-91) floored a close catch off his own bowling.

But just two balls later in the same over, Iyer holed out to Matthew Short at deep midwicket for a 90-ball 105 that contained 11 fours and three sixes.

Gill, 24, was also in sublime form, smashing Abbott for a huge six over long on and following it up with a four in the same over.

The right-hander, who hit 74 off 63 balls at Mohali, raced to his sixth ODI century and fifth this year with a single off Abbott.

Gill's knock came to an end on 104 when he was caught by wicketkeeper Alex Carey off Cameron Green. He hit six fours and four sixes in his 97-ball innings.

Ishan Kishan was dismissed for 31 before Rahul and Yadav propped up the innings with their fluent knocks.

Yadav was especially belligerent, hitting six sixes and as many fours to frustrate the Australian bowlers.

Green took two wickets but gave away 103 runs off his 10 overs.

India made one change to the side that won at Mohali, bringing in Prasidh Krishna for Jasprit Bumrah.

Bumrah has gone to visit his family after being given a short break by team management.

Australia left out Pat Cummins, Mitchell Marsh and Marcus Stoinis.

Josh Hazlewood and Carey were brought in, while left-arm fast bowler Spencer Johnson was handed his international debut.
