CT woman charged with allegedly assaulting ex after breaking into home arrested again for violating protective order
A Montville woman charged with assaulting an ex after breaking into a residence in Griswold last week was arrested again for reportedly contacting the victim Tuesday through a cell phone app in violation of a protective order issued by a judge.
Sarah Cusimano, 23, was first arrested last Thursday after troopers responded to a Griswold residence on the report of a physical altercation between two individuals, according to the Connecticut State Police. Troopers discovered that the complainant arrived home with her significant other and found Cusimano, who had broken into the residence, state police said.
According to state police, Cusimano had previously dated the complainant’s significant other. The complainant told investigators she and Cusimano quickly exited the residence after she found Cusimano inside, at which point Cusimano approached and struck the complainant’s significant other who was seated in a vehicle outside of the residence, state police said.
Cusimano fled the area when the complainant told her there was a video surveillance camera at the residence and that police would be contacted. The complainant and assault victim did not report any items damaged or missing. Cusimano was later found and charged with two counts of second-degree breach of peace and a single count each of third-degree burglary and third-degree stalking.
State police said Cusimano, who was released from custody on a $5,000 non-surety bond following her arrest, signed a condition of release form that barred her from contacting the person she allegedly struck. A judge later issued a protective order that also forbade any contact.
State police said the protected party contacted troopers on Tuesday and alleged that Cusimano contacted them through a cell phone messaging app. Cusimano was found at her home where she was charged with one count of violation of a protective order after admitting she contacted the victim, state police said.
Cusimano was subsequently released on a $5,000 non-surety bond and was scheduled to appear before a judge Wednesday in Norwich Superior Court.
