The JDS has confirmed its alliance with the BJP for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. Talks are ongoing between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former CM HD Kumaraswamy to decide on seat sharing. Kumaraswamy stated that the alliance is a new political chapter against the Congress in the state. Speculations about the alliance had been circulating since the parties began joining forces over common causes. The JDS had suffered significant losses in the assembly polls and the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
