Danny Green signs one-year deal with Philadelphia 76ers
Danny Green goes for a second stint in another city as he signs with the 76ers
It appears that the grass is greener for Danny in the city of Brotherly Love.
After the trade deadline, Danny Green was the sole acquisition for the Cavaliers after he was bought out and then agreeing to sign onto the team for the remainder of the season. It seems as if that they were going to bring on Green gradually throughout the remainder of the season while also allowing to rehabilitate from a torn ACL suffered from the 2021-2022 season.
Unfortunately for both the Cavaliers and Green the two sides were never able to find the necessary minutes for Green to get back to form and the team to benefit from his career average 40% three-point shooting.
Green came out earlier in the offseason to speak about his disappointment with his second stint with the Cavaliers. Green stated how “There was a lot of weird air of not knowing what was going to be, or what it was. There were talks differently before I got there than when I got there.”
Green had a few snags affecting his minutes between the before mentioned ACL recovery and how he caught COVID early in his tenure with the Cavaliers.
During his time with the Cavaliers, Green played in eight games, shooting 44.8% of his threes in 95 total minutes.
Green still brings with him an ability to knock down threes and will once he regains his footing in the NBA. The veteran also brings with him a championship pedigree as a three time NBA champion (twice with the Spurs, and once with the Raptors).
This will be Danny Green’s second stint in Philadelphia after spending two seasons with them in 2020-21 and 2021-22. The Sixers were certainly allured by Green as his brings a familiar presence back to the franchise but also to Joel Embiid and new head coach Nick Nurse. The latter whom Green won his championship alongside in Toronto.
It certainly wasn’t the reunion or full circle moment the fans or Green were hoping for in Cleveland. Hopefully Green’s stop in Philly will allow him to return to form and find himself being a valuable contributor to a playoff contender.
