CNN does not have a town hall planned with Vivek Ramaswamy for next week, despite the GOP presidential candidate tweeting otherwise.
Ramaswamy tweeted last week that he was set to appear for a Sept. 12 CNN town hall, but a CNN spokesperson confirmed to The Hill on Thursday there is no such event scheduled with Ramaswamy for that date.
“Townhall with @CNN on Tuesday, Sept 12 in New York City. We can handle the heat. Let’s see if they can too. Buckle Up,” Ramaswamy posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.
A CNN spokesperson said the network is in “regular communication” with Ramaswamy’s team and other candidates throughout the 2024 election cycle.
“However, the information in Mr. Ramaswamy’s post is incorrect and there is not a CNN Town Hall currently planned for September 12th,” the spokesperson said.
The Hill has reached out to his campaign for comment.
Other GOP White House candidates, including former President Trump, former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and former Vice President Mike Pence, have been featured in town halls with the network.
Ramaswamy has frequently sparred with the hosts and anchors at CNN over his remarks and previously called the network’s Kaitlin Collins a “petulant teenager" after she pressed him on his comments about 9/11.
The tech entrepreneur has ticked up in Republican primary polls in recent months but still trails significantly behind front-runner Trump. According to RealClearPolitics’s polling average for the GOP nomination, Ramaswamy is averaging 6.8 percent.
