The Body Shop has launched its new concept store, Changemakers’ Workshop, in Brisbane’s Queen St, aiming to raise people’s awareness about the environment.
Featuring circularity as the heart of this retail concept, the store has been furnished with sustainable fixtures including repurposed wood and recyclable plastics. It also has 100 per cent recycled countertops made of recycled plastic headed for the landfill, along with a bespoke mural ‘You Are Here’ by local Indigenous artist, Rachael Sarra.
The new store also has an activism section where customers can learn about the brand’s activist history and lobby for social change on subjects ranging from young political involvement to indigenous and LGBTIQA+ rights.
In addition, the ‘Changemaking’ Corner allows customers to learn about important issues and influence real change, including its Be Seen Be Heard Campaign and partnership with the Foundation For Young Australians & Make It 16 Australia, which will support its campaign to lower the voting age to 16.
The Body Shop says its new Brisbane store is returning to its roots and continuing its enthusiasm for being forward-thinking and environmentally progressive.
“Our new Brisbane Mall store showcases the best of The Body Shop’s values and our commitment to getting to work in authentic and tangible ways,” says APAC brand and activism director, Shannon Chrisp.
“This new concept store amplifies our activist roots in a way that truly engages customers in the stories behind our products and encourages them to join us.”
A refill station is also available at the location, where customers can fill up a 300ml aluminium container with any of the brand’s shower gels, shampoos, conditioners, and hand washes.
