COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – One person is dead after a shooting was reported at a Dairy Queen restaurant on the north side of Columbus Saturday afternoon.
Columbus police dispatchers said the shooting happened at the restaurant on the 1500 block of Schrock Road at approximately 2:23 p.m.
Police at the scene said a male victim was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:32 p.m. Police have not identified the victim at this time.
There is no word on a suspect at this time.
A resident near where the shooting happened said an incident like Saturday's isn't something she was used to.
"I was at home, actually," resident Elisha Gyasibaaye said. "I heard a couple of shots and I was like, 'There's no way there's fireworks. What's going on right now,' and then my buddy, who was a police officer, just texted me. It was, like, 'Someone got shot. Y'all be careful.'"
The Columbus Police Homicide Unit is investigating.
This is the fourth fatal shooting in Columbus and the surrounding area since Wednesday. This includes two people shot and killed in separate incidents by police officers as well as a man shot and killed during an armed robbery at an auto parts store.
