A WOMAN has revealed that she got her eyebrows tinted, but didn’t get a patch test first.
Much to her surprise, after her appointment, beauty fan Racha Elz was not only left with swollen eyes, but her eyebrow hairs also fell out too.
Posting the blunder on social media, Racha explained: “When I got my eyebrows tinted with no patch test…”
Alongside the video, the young brunette beauty attached an audio that said: “It is so bad, I wanna give you a zero. But that’s not possible, so I give you a one.”
To this, she then shared a snap of her face after getting her eyebrows tinted – but it wasn’t her eyebrow hair that caught people’s attention.
Instead, it was Racha’s eyes that were leaving people open-mouthed – as her eyelids and underneath her eyes were incredibly swollen and puffy.
Racha held up a peace sign as she tried to make light of the beauty blunder.
Racha explained that she had an allergic reaction from the eyebrow tint and “ended up in A&E twice and couldn’t even see anymore because of how swollen my eyes became.”
To help with the swelling, she added: “They gave me steroid tablets to reduce it.”
Racha later confirmed that her eyebrow hairs fell out and the swelling lasted “about five days.”
She noted: “So this happened to me in October and I literally left my eyebrows to grow back and only got them threaded yesterday to shape [them].”
Racha’s TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @racha.elz, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly amassed 18,700 views.
As advised by The Eyelash Emporium, before diving into lash and brow tinting treatments, it is crucial to prioritise safety and ensure that potential risks are minimised, which is where patch testing comes into play.
Patch testing is a great way to make sure you don’t have any allergies to the tint products before your desired treatment.
It’s a super simple process where a small amount of the product is applied to a specific area of the skin to see if any reaction occurs.
To ensure accurate results, it is recommended that a patch test is carried out 48 hours before the actual lash or brow treatment.
Symptoms of an allergic reaction can range from mild irritation to a burning or stinging sensation.
If you suspect you are having an allergic reaction, the NHS advise washing the area thoroughly to remove any access dye.
They also recommend gently applying an a moisturising treatment such as aqueous cream or petroleum jelly to the affected skin.
