OFFICE OF AUDITOR GENERAL FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENTS TRAINS MANAGEMENT, SENIOR STAFF 

As part of efforts to broaden and improve the knowledge of its Management and Senior Staff, Office of the  Auditor-General for Local Governments has organised a three-day training programme with the theme: “Fostering Continuous Growth and Collaboration for Sustainable Success” for the staff.

Speaking at the commencement of the event held at the Secretariat, Alausa-Ikeja, the Permanent Secretary/Auditor General for Local Government, Mr. Obafemi Ogunlana reiterated the need for Management and Senior Staff to have a growth mindset and seek better and faster ways to deliver on their Key Performance Indexes (KPI’s).

According to him, the training organised by the Office in collaboration with Bold Perception Integrated Resources, was aimed at equipping participants with the necessary tools to drive continuous growth within the Organization and promote individual growth as “Change Agents”.

In his words: “The training will help to improve Management and Senior Staff mental capacity, wellness, boost their morale and enhance their productivity. If you look at the topics outlined for the training, they were specifically chosen and related to staff wellness and wellbeing”.

Also speaking, the lead facilitator at the training, Mrs. Amina Hamza of Bold Perception Integrated said the training programme will cover a range of critical topics, including advancing interpersonal skills, strengthening communication and empathy within teams, promoting a culture of continuous learning, enhancing coaching techniques for team performance, building resilient and adaptable teams, cultivating innovation and creativity, and setting personal and team improvement plans.

While informing that during the training, participants are expected to engage in interactive sessions, role plays, and real-life scenario analyses, among others, Hamza pointed out that the training was designed to lay emphasis on the importance of collaboration, effective communication, conflict resolution, and embracing a growth mindset.

Key resolutions were reached at the conclusion of the training, including the establishment of monthly knowledge-sharing sessions, the formation of a Community of Practice to brainstorm and recommend strategies, the introduction of quarterly departmental activity reports, and the identification of training needs to bridge skill gaps.

Participants acknowledged the significance of aligning individual and organisational goals, noting that success hinges on the symbiotic relationship between leaders and employees. The training was highly commended for its impact and relevance, reflecting positively on the interpersonal skills applied in day-to-day tasks.
