‘At least one’ – Fabrizio Romano provides update on Tottenham transfer aims
Fabrizio Romano has expressed scepticism at the suggestion that Tottenham might sign two attacking players to replace Harry Kane, insisting that Ange Postecoglou wants to give Richarlison time to prove himself in the number nine role.
There has been a lot said and written about how Spurs will go about filling the Kane-sized hole in their squad, with centre-forwards such as Gent’s Gift Orban (De Morgen) and Lille’s Jonathan David (Rudy Galetti) mooted as targets over recent weeks.
However, Spurs have also been linked with several wide players and attacking midfielders recently, including the likes of Rennes’ Jeremy Doku (Independent), Leeds’ Wilfried Gnonto (Telegraph), Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze (Football.London) and Nottingham Forest’s Brennan Johnson (The Athletic).
Tottenham will sign at least one new forward
That perhaps suggests that Postecoglou wants more than just one forward to replace Kane’s goals and attacking output. However, Romano has stated that the Australian trusts Richarlison and wants to him feel like an ‘important’ part of the set-up.
When asked if Spurs could sign more than one attacker to replace Kane, the journalist told GiveMeSport: “I’m not sure about how many because I’m sure that Ange Postecoglou wants to give some time for Richarlison to show how good he is, to have the opportunity to feel important for the squad.
“So I’m not sure they will sign two attackers, but at least one I expect because Tottenham need someone in that position of course after losing a top player like Harry Kane.”

The feeling I get is that Tottenham will push ahead with a move for Orban once they get some players out the door. Additionally, I expect Spurs to go for a versatile attacking such as Brennan Johnson who can operate in the number eight role as well cover for the wide areas.
