A woman escaped an attempted kidnapping after she was sexually assaulted, and authorities are still trying to identify her assailant more than a week later.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office released Tuesday a composite sketch of the unidentified suspect in the Aug. 12 assault and video of his pickup truck.
The victim was sitting on a curb about 3 a.m. near the near the 2900 block of West Sunrise Boulevard in unincorporated Broward County when the man pulled up in his truck and offered to pay her for sex, the Sheriff’s Office said. When the woman declined and walked away, the man got out of the truck and grabbed her.
The woman fought him, escaping from the truck, but the man captured her again outside the car. He then sexually assaulted her, according to the Sheriff’s Office, before she was able to run into a nearby business and call 911.
Video released by the Sheriff’s Office showed the suspect following the woman as she ran for help and fleeing once she got to the business. The Sheriff’s Office did not provide the make and model of the truck.
Authorities ask anyone with information on the suspect or his truck to call Special Victims Unit Det.
