AS Jim and Barb in The Royle Family, Ricky Tomlinson and Sue Johnston became one of telly’s most loved couples.
And now the on-screen husband and wife are reuniting, 12 years after the cult BBC sitcom aired for the final time.
The Sun can reveal that the duo have joined forces to film a brand new travelogue for More4.
A source said: “Ricky and Sue are incredibly close friends and when they were approached about reuniting they both jumped at the chance.
“They will be travelling the length and breadth of the UK to share some of their favourite places with their fans.
“Ricky and Sue have already started filming some of the series and have been all over, having lots of fun in places like Portmeirion and Porthmadog in Wales and in Shrewsbury.
“It is a poignant series for both of them and along the way Ricky and Sue will be opening up on their lives together.
“There are plenty of laughs along the way too, like former Team GB sprinter Colin Jackson joining them for a mobility scooter race in Llandudno.”
Ricky, 83, and Sue, 79, filmed a pilot last year and the series will be called Ricky, Sue & a Trip or Two.
The source added: “Ricky and Sue both have a massive fan base from their Royle Family days and their chemistry is exactly the same now as it was back then.
“Ricky and Sue are already regulars on Channel 4 with Celebrity Gogglebox and the feedback from the audience has spoken volumes.”
Mike Bassett star Ricky is well-versed when it comes to hitting the road with a TV crew in tow.
He’s previously teamed up with his Royle Family on-screen son Ralf Little – who played Antony in the long-running show – for a travel show across the North.
The show aired on Gold and saw Ricky and Ralf visit some of their favourite haunts to unlock the secrets of each region.
