JERAD DE BOER POWERS TO FIRST CAREER WIN AND CLAIMS JIM LANGRECK MEMORIAL!

TY FREDRICKSON EARNS FIRST CAREER FAST TIME AWARD & PODIUM FINISH IN SLM’S!

DUSTY ZANDER, BRIAN LEE, SAM SHEAHEN, MICHAEL KLUCK, & TIM ANDERSON EARN FEATURE WINS!

Marshfield, WI, (August 19, 2023) – It was a great night of racing and family fun at Marshfield Motor Speedway, tonight.  Kids enjoyed the Kraft’s Kuddly Kritter’s Petting Zoo & Ledin Face Painting, and fans enjoy 6 divisions of high powered racing action!  On a night that we remembered the founder of the speedway, Jim Langreck, a nice crowd attended and remininced about the former owner/builder of the speedway.

Setting the pace in qualifying tonight for the super late models, it was Ty Fredrickson with a lap time of 19.234 seconds, giving the Minnesota driver his first career Pole Award!  Grabbing the trophy in the Chili Implement Dash was Mark Eswein, edging out  Matt Tifft.  Getting the win the super late model heat race, was Dakota Blakeslee, beating Darek Gress to the line by 0.125 seconds.

Once the drivers took to the track for the Jim Langreck Memorial feature, it was Michael Haggar putting his #19 car to the front.  Haggar, whom of which has been very fast at all tracks in the Midwest, held a car length lead over Neillsville, WI driver Darek Gress.  Gress was looking to end his run of second place finishes, thus far in 2023.  Haggar was able to hold off Gress, but only to lap 13, that was when Gress made the pass of Haggar for the top spot.  With Gress holding a 4 car length lead, Jerad de Boer put his #7-11 car into the runner up position, with the inside pass of Haggar, on lap 14.  Once in the runner up position, de Boer had his sites set on a very fast Gress #107.5 asphalt rocket.  At the midpoint of the 35-lap feature event,           de Boer closed to the bumper of the #107.5 car of Darek Gress.  These two drivers are no strangers in racing against each other, as Gress & de Boer, each, have 5 podium finishes, thus far in the 2023 race season.

On lap 16, and with 19 laps remaining, de Boer, in the Redline Speedsports #7-11, put his car to the inside of Gress as the two drivers motored out of turn 2.  Once obtaining the lead, and in clean air, de Boer stretched his lead over Gress by 4 car lengths.   With de Boer, Gress, and Eswein holding the top three spots, caution flew for a very scary crash that involved heat winner, Dakota Blakeslee.  Just prior to entering turn one, Blakeslee’s left front tire exploded, causing him to hit the turn one wall head on.  The race was red flagged for nearly a half hour, as emergency staff  looked after the well being of Dakota Blakeslee.  Blakeslee was transported to a Marshfield area hospital for observation, and we are glad to announce that after spending the night in the hospital, he will be released today, with much soreness and bruises.

Once the race restarted, it was de Boer and Gress in the front row, with Mark Eswein and Darren Jackson holding down the second row.  Once again, de Boer was able to pull ahead  of Gress by a few car lengths.  On lap 27, Wisconsin Rapids, WI star driver Mark Eswein, worked his way around Gress for the second spot.  With Eswein now holding the runner up position, this is something Jerad de Boer most likely didn’t want to see in his rear view mirror. On the doorsteps and lurking for a fifth consecutive feature win, Eswein, who has been nothing short of sensational, was looking to close the gap that de Boer enjoyed.

de Boer, who earlier in the day struggled with handling issues, made some adjustments at intermission.  The adjustments made, proved to be beneficial as the #7-11 was able to put 4-5 car lengths on a very fast #71 Eswein hot rod.  With two laps remaining, and de Boer & Eswein holding down the top two spots, Minnesota rookie driver Ty Fredrickson made the pass of Gress for the third spot.  The son of legend driver Dan Fredrickson, and in his second night ever competing at Marshfield Motor Speedway, Ty was looking for his first podium finish, after already capturing the pole award earlier in the day.  Once Jerad de Boer took the white flag from starter Tom Ledin, he knew he was about to get the monkey off his back and notch his first career win.  One lap later, de Boer crossed the finish line with his hand out the window, acknowledging his excitement.  With Eswein further padding his point lead and finishing second, Ty Fredrickson grabbed the third position.  Rounding out the top five, it was Darek Gress fourth, and NASCAR team owner & former driver Matt Tifft, coming home in the fifth spot.

In feature competition, it was Iowa driver Rylie Mullin putting her #12 car out to the early lead.  Kamren Hill, in his #38K car, grabbed the lead away from Mullin.  One lap later, and looking for the clean sweep, it was Tim Anderson powering to the race lead over Mike Meharg.  With Anderson out front, Anna (Malouf) Price, showed much speed as the driver of the #64 car overtook Meharg for the second spot.  Price, the daughter of star driver Phil Malouf, started to close slightly on Anderson for the race lead.  On the last lap, Anna Price got to within 0.190 seconds of Anderson, but it was Tim Anderson in his brightly colored #27 car getting the win and the sweep. The Upper Midwest Vintage Racing Series was invited to the Jim Langreck Memorial, and it was Todd Lindner of Loyal, grabbing heat #1. In the Upper Midwest Vintage Series heat #2 , it was Sean Herzog grabbing the checkered flag!.

It was Roger Peterson putting his #91 vintage Marzofka car, in the early lead.  Quickly, however, it was Loyal, WI driver Todd Lindner putting his #25 car to the front of the field.  On lap five, it was Wausau, WI driver Sean Herzog making the pass of Lindner for the race lead.  With Herzog out front, and now, Brian Lee running a strong second, Lindner found himself battling with Jim Kulseth for the third spot.  Lap 13 was the turning point of the race, as Brian Lee out motored Herzog down the back stretch for the top spot.

Lee, whom of which calls Holmen, WI home, had his #93 car hooked up.  It seemed as if he hit the set up on his vintage car, and it looked very stable in, and throughout the corners.  When starter Tom Ledin threw the checkered flag from the Geno Eckes Flag Stand, it was Brian Lee earning the popular feature win.  With Sean Herzog and Todd Lindner finishing second and third respectively, it was Jim Kulseth and Jared Lindner rounding out the top five.

On lap three, Baehman had his hood flip up, but some how managed to hold the top spot for a few more laps.  On lap 4, it was Zander moving into the runner up position.  With three laps remaining, Jake Baehman, with hood still up into the windshield, drifted high on the track’s back stretch, and his right ski got off the track and forced the car to flip over.  Unable to continue, Dusty Zander inherited the lead, and went on for the Skidder feature win.  Braden Potts found himself in the second spot, with Mark Hagen getting the final podium spot, finishing third.
