A NEW show called Love Triangle is heading our way, I can reveal.
It’s fair to say viewers have been turned off by the usual match-making formula that gets singletons to couple up.
Plenty have fallen by the wayside in the past year, while former hits such as Love Island have lost their spark.
It’s no surprise channels are looking at less conventional romances, with ex-boxer David Haye’s throuple seemingly inspiring E4.
The shocking new series, hitting screens this year, involves six single people spending 48 hours texting two potential suitors, before choosing one for a blind date.
They will move in together shortly afterwards.
But in what is bound to be a dramatic twist, the person they rejected will later move into the home, forming a love triangle.
At the end of the series, they will choose the one partner they want to carry on dating — similar to how Una Healy ended up leaving her throuple with David and Sian Osborne.
A TV insider said: “Love Triangle will be full of twists, turns and bombshells. It will put Love Island to shame when it comes to the amount of drama.
“They have scoured the UK for singletons to take part and there are some big characters, so there is plenty of passion. Living in a love triangle will put the singletons under pressure. But that can often bring people together.”
The show first launched in Australia and was developed by the people behind Married At First Sight, so it has all the right ingredients for success.
Channel 4 commissioning editor Lee McMurray said: “When it comes to romance, most of us have a type we want, who often disappoints.
“We fail to spot the match we need, who could make us truly happy.
“I’m confident British audiences will be gripped by this radical rejection of our current looks-based, swipe-right dating culture.”
It all sounds exhausting to me — but it’s bound to make for compelling viewing.
WOODY Cook travels the world as a young and trendy DJ – but his favourite job is still alongside mum Zoe Ball on Celebrity Gogglebox.
Although he doesn’t feel quite as fondly about appearing on the box with his dad Norman Cook, aka Fatboy Slim.
Woody said: “We’ve been doing Gogglebox for three or four years.
Every year I think we’re not funny any more and they’re going to replace us with a younger fresher model.
“Hopefully they’ll bring us back next year, because it is my favourite job, getting paid to hang out with my mum.”
On jobs he’d turn down, he added: “One of those weird travel shows like Travels With My Dad. That would be off the table.”
DRAGONS’ Den’s Deborah Meaden has been ghosted by prospective business partners after they accepted an offer to work with her.
The entrepreneur said people she agreed to back never spoke to her again after leaving the BBC One show, meaning the deal never went through.
Asked about how much she has invested during her 17 years on the series, she said: “I know I’ve made offers of close to £7million. Not all of those go through but certainly I will have invested more than £4million.
“Sometimes you agree to do a deal in the Den and when we come out, we do due diligence in the same way you would in everyday business life and sometimes things are not quite what they seem. Actually I’ve even been ghosted. People have accepted an offer and never spoken to me again. So unfortunately they don’t all happen.”
But she told Times Radio: “In valuation terms I’m very much on the up side.”
VANESSA FELTZ reckons her stint on E4’s new series of Celebs Go Dating will help show people her vulnerable side.
The TalkTV host said: “I think they’ll be surprised to see the vulnerability. I’m not someone who is comfortable with being single. People who like it, that’s great, but I don’t like it.”
LEVISON Wood is used to tracking rare beasts – but now he’s hunting Hollywood stars.
The adventurer’s three-part Channel 4 series Walking With… saw him follow orangutans, desert lions and polar bears in their natural habitats.
But Levison has revealed he is now looking for actors to appear in a film that he has written about his experiences.
He said: “It will be based on true events and we’re in the final stages of negotiations in America. It’s proper Hollywood stuff.”
Despite once providing protection for George Clooney on a fact-finding trip to South Sudan, Levison says it is unlikely the actor will agree to portray him.
But he added: “We are in talks with household names.”
CHILDREN’S channel CITV will be taken off air on September 1.
It was first launched in 1983 and had shows including Press Gang, Art Attack, Danger Mouse and Rainbow, before launching as a channel in its own right in 2006.
It will make way for the children’s streaming service ITVX Kids.
TELLY hardman Ross Kemp begged to enter Ecuador’s most notorious prison after outbreaks of violence and bodies of gangsters piled up.
The nation has declared a 60-day state of emergency in jails following clashes between criminal gangs at the Penitenciaria del Litoral jail, which led to 18 deaths.
The actor is filming a new series about the world’s harshest jails and was about to board a plane to the country from Colombia when an uprising began last month.
But bosses at Channel 5, who he is making the show for, cancelled the trip at the last minute over fears for his safety.
A source said: “Ross begged to board the plane but it was a firm no.”
