A FEW months ago, I’d have recoiled at the idea of using a body oil. The thought of sticky, slippery limbs makes my stomach turn.
But the biggest gift of the summer has been new launches offering hydrating, glow-giving benefits without any grease stains . . .
Weleda Skin Food Ultra-dry Oil, £15.95 for 100ml: The original Weleda Skin Food, £15, is a make-up artist’s staple.
But sadly, despite its superior moisturising powers, I don’t love its strong, herbal smell.
Thankfully, this scent isn’t nearly as strong and, because I wasn’t using it on my face, it wasn’t as distracting as the cream.
The formula is as thin as water, so you have to do your body in sections to stop it running to the floor.
It feels hydrating, but there’s a slight stickiness that takes a while to settle in, so I’m still not sure whether I’ll make it permanent in my routine.
Caudalie Soleil Des Vignes Oil Elixir, £31 for 100ml: It was the smell of this that initially won me over and encouraged me to give body oils another chance.
It is summer bottled, like suncream and golden skies, and instantly puts a smile on my face.
I have had countless compliments while wearing it.
The formula is the quickest of the three to be absorbed, and it doesn’t feel greasy or sticky once you’ve rubbed it in.
The spray bottle is fab, as you can do one all-over spritz and not have to pick up the bottle again, which could make it slippery like the Weleda.
I also love that you can use it in your hair so the scent lasts even longer.
It’s by far my favourite, and I’ve already ordered a back-up so I’ll never go without.
Sol de Janeiro Bum Bum Body Firmeza Oil, £52 for 100ml: My sister loves Sol de Janeiro’s Brazilian Bum Bum Cream, £21, but I find it too thick to use daily.
So when I saw this oil version I couldn’t wait to give it a go.
It has the same iconic vanilla scent, but the fluid formula is easier to massage into the skin.
It dispenses more than the other oils I tried, and you only need one pump per body part, which makes it faster to apply and easy to portion out.
The bottle has lasted me just over a month, which isn’t a long time considering the cost, so it’s definitely one for special occasions.
I TRY not to play favourites, but Origins is one of my go-to skincare brands.
Suitable for all ages, products are packed with high-performing ingredients in luxe formulas, and they’re eco-friendly.
Best of all, from tomorrow you’ll get a free gift, including five best-selling items in a pouch worth £55, when spending £55 in store or online at origins.co.uk.
