Rangers keeper Robby McCrorie targeted by trio of clubs, including Manchester Utd, as Gers set asking price
ROBBY McCRORIE is being tracked by a trio of clubs.
SunSport can reveal Manchester United, Hull City and Polish champions Rakow Czestochowa are all keen on the wantaway Rangers star.
Michael Beale held last-ditch talks with McCrorie over his Ibrox future last month.
The Gers boss rates the keeper highly, but is resigned to losing him after the 25-year-old made it clear he wants regular first team football.
McCrorie has started the season as No.2 to Jack Butland, with Gers slapping a £1 million price tag on his head.
Scotland keeper McCrorie has waited patiently for his chance to prove he should be Ibrox No.1.
But with Butland replacing Allan McGregor in goal, McCrorie is no longer prepared to play back-up.
McCrorie – who has been on Gers’ books since he was eight – was guaranteed a number of matches, but he believes he has to be playing regularly to advance his career.
Rangers have reluctantly accepted his wish to leave and become first-choice keeper elsewhere.
McCrorie believes a move will also help him regain his place in Steve Clarke’s Scotland squad.
The keeper is under contract until 2025 and is hoping Rangers don’t price him out the market.
United were keen on the keeper last month and have once again registered their interest with Hull City and Rakow Czestochowa also making contact with McCrorie’s representatives.
Meanwhile ex-St Mirren keeper Vaclav Hladky has revealed how he once turned down a move to Rangers… to sign for English fourth tier side Salford City.
The Czech shotstopper spent 18 months in Paisley and attracted the attention of both Rangers and Celtic during his time with the Saints.
He has revealed he held talks with the Ibrox club when he decided he was leaving St Mirren.
But he instead opted to sign for English League Two outfit Salford City instead.
Hladky later won a move to Ipswich Town and he is now the Championship club’s No.1.
But he admitted that his move to Scottish football was the springboard for his career.
He said: “When I was leaving St Mirren, I discussed a transfer with Rangers and we got down to personal terms.
“On the one hand, it was a difficult decision to join a club in the fourth division of English football compared with Rangers.
“But I wanted to prove myself in English football and that eventually earned me a move to Ipswich Town.”
