Woman vows to lob neighbour’s clean washing into dirty garden after they hang it on shared fence & it’s split opinion
A WOMAN has revealed how she was left fuming after her neighbours started hanging their washing on their shared fence dangling into her garden.
She uploaded a photo showing the offending laundry load, and asked if it was unreasonable to “chuck it back over their side.”
Taking to Mumsnet, she shared how the neighbours had just moved in and their behaviour had already irked her.
She wrote: “Am I being unreasonable to ask the neighbours to stop doing this?
“Newish neighbours I’ve never spoken to except for a quick hello have started hanging their washing over our shared fence. It’s bothering me.
“Do I say anything?
“My habitual pettiness is telling me to chuck the lot back over their side though I recognise that would be harsh.”
Many people were quick to take to the comments section and say they would also be angry with the situation.
One said: “That would really bloody annoy me.”
Another added: “Ew. Skanky.
“That would annoy me so much. I’d have to ask them to stop.”
However, one person reasoned: “Maybe they’ve not had chance to put a washing line up yet if they’ve just moved in?”
The mum hit back saying: “Yep get that but I don’t think this is a reasonable solution and is actually quite rude.”
She then shared an update to the saga, and said she had knocked on her neighbour’s door to inform them of her frustration.
The Mumsnet user wrote: “Bit the bullet and knocked on the door 10 minutes ago.
“The lady’s English wasn’t great but she nodded and smiled.
“Washing still there.
“I just asked that she remove the washing from our fence a few times.
“She just nodded. I think her husband will be back from work soon so I’ll ask him who I think speaks better English.”
One person responded on Mumsnet saying: “I can’t understand washing clothes to then put them on a dirty fence.
“People are so strange.
“My neighbours did this once… I pushed it back over and told them my son pulled it down so chucked it back over— they didn’t do it again.”
Another pointed out: “They have a washing line, as you can see in the picture. This looks to be overflow.”
