Teacher jailed for having sex with boy, 15, finds new job after temporary release
A teacher who was jailed for having sex with a 15-year-old pupil is ‘flirting with lads’ working at her new job while on release, it has been claimed.
Kandice Barber, 37, was jailed for six years and two months in March 2021 after being found guilty of grooming a child.
She took the young boy to a field and kissed him on the neck before asking him ‘What do you want to do now?’, a court previously heard.
Sources have claimed the mother-of-three has been a ‘hit with the lads’ at her new job as a gate guard, and that they have ‘no idea about her background’.
They told the Sun newspaper: ‘It’s no secret she’s a massive flirt and lots of the staff there have already noticed her.
‘Kandice turned up about two months ago, which was a complete shock because she should have still been behind bars.’
Wates Construction confirmed Barber is on temporary release, which is a process designed to help reintegrate inmates before their release.
The supply teacher from Wendover, Buckinghamshire spotted her victim at a school sports day and added him on Snapchat to send flirty texts.
She then bombarded him with messages including one where she asked him ‘Do you like boobs or bum?’ and sent him a photo of herself on a bed surrounded by sex toys.
The victim said the assault took place between October 11, 2018 and immediately before the half-term.
Ultimately, Barber was reported after a photo shared with the child was circulated widely and reached the head teacher of the school.
She was found guilty of one count of causing or inciting a child under 16 to engage in sexual activity.
She broke up with her husband Daniel who, despite being by her side in court and giving evidence during the trial, left her for a new romance with a woman called Charlotte Smith. The pair have been dating for months and plan to start a family soon.
After Barber was jailed, Daniel posted a photo after her sentence featuring a Superman t-shirt and kissing emoji alongside a caption saying ‘always’, and described the verdict as a ‘joke’ at the time.
At the trial at Aylesbury Crown Court, Barber’s grooming of the teenager was described as ‘beyond despicable’ .
Jailing Barber in 2021, Recorder Bal Dhaliwal said Barber had ‘acted in gross breach of trust’ and had taken ‘advantage of a child in your care and groomed him for your own sexual gratification’.
She told the teacher: ‘The victim was a 15-year-old boy in his final year at school. You had control and authority over him. He felt drawn in by you due to the compliments, you caused him to engage in sex with you while he was a pupil in your care.’
