PCB Removes Two High-Ranking Officials Sparks Speculations For ODI World Cup 2023

THE PAKISTAN Cricket Board (PCB) has removed two high-ranked officials from their positions. Director of Media Sami-ul-Hasan and former Chief Executive Faisal Hasnain were the ones who faced the impacts of this decision.

The decision to eliminate Sami-ul-Hasan from his job came quickly, and he has been reassigned to the Special Projects division. The same thing happened to Faisal Hasnain, who was made chief executive officer while Ramiz Raja was the chairman.

After the reformation of the PCB’s 2014 constitution, Faisal’s position was no longer a part of the organizational design, leaving him in a questionable spot.

Under the authority of former interim Management Committee chairman Najam Sethi, Faisal kept on being effectively associated with the board’s issues. However, with Najam Sethi replaced by Zaka Ashraf as the Interim Management Committee chairman, Faisal seems to have lost his impact on the board.

Major Shake-Up Amidst Asia Cup, ODI World Cup 2023

Currently, BCCI and PCB have tension between them that started over the Asia Cup hosting rights and extended to the point where the Pakistan board started considering not traveling to India for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023 set to be hosted by India entirely for the first time.

India will face arch-rivals Pakistan in their first match of Asia Cup 2023 on September 2 in Kandy, Sri Lanka, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) president & BCCI secretary Jay Shah confirmed on Wednesday while announcing the schedule for the premier Asian tournament.

The six-nation tournament will be played in Pakistan and Sri Lanka under a hybrid model of hosting games. The tournament will start on August 30, when Pakistan take on Nepal in Multan. The final will be held on September 17 in Colombo

The officials of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will make an inspection tour to Kandy and Colombo, the two venues, where the matches will be played in Sri Lanka during the 2023 Asia Cup.

As part of the preparation work for the tournament, the ACC and PCB officials will inspect Pallekele International Cricket Stadium (PICS) in Kandy on Friday and the R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium (RPICS) in Colombo.

Kandy is the host for three first-round matches, including India’s Group A matches against Pakistan and Nepal on September 2 and 4 respectively. Colombo will take over to host the five Super Fours stage fixtures and the final of the tournament on September 17, with a reserve day for the title clash scheduled for September 18.
