Report: ‘Positive developments’ in Spurs talks to sell first-team midfielder
The Daily Mail have claimed that there has been some progress in negotiations between Tottenham and Atletico Madrid over Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
Atletico’s interest in Hojbjerg has been well-documented over recent weeks, with AS (via Sport Witness) reporting a few days ago that Diego Simeone had identified the Tottenham man as his top midfield target since he likes 27-year-old’s attributes as a player and his character.
However, the report revealed that the La Liga side would have to move a few players on before they can make an offer for the Tottenham man.
Talks advancing between Spurs and Atletico
The Mail have asserted talks between Atletico and Tottenham are ongoing, with Spurs having largely resisted the Spanish side’s advances so far.
However, it is explained that there is willingness from the Premier League club to sell Hojbjerg for the right fee.
The publication states that there have been some ‘positive developments’ in the talks between the two clubs over recent days but progress has been described as ‘slow’.
The report adds that Tottenham have already started identifying replacements for the former Southampton man as the expectation is that he will seal a switch to the Spanish capital over the coming weeks.

This transfer could drag on until the final week or two of the transfer window as Atletico do not seem to be in a position to spend £30m-£35m on Hojbejrg at the moment.
However, should Joao Felix complete a switch to Barcelona, that could perhaps give the Colchoneros the funds they need to pursue the Tottenham man.
