This year isn't a monumental anniversary of the moon landing, but former First Lady Melania Trump considers the 54th anniversary something so important that she marks it with a commemorative card.
In a release, Trump explained that she's selling an NFT – or Non-fungible token – in conjunction with USA Memorabilia. They're akin to trading cards. The release of the NFT claims to have exclusive audio, though it's unclear who that would be from.
Astronaut Buzz Aldrin visited the White House in 2017, where he stole the show by making a number of faces responding to Donald Trump's speech.
"To celebrate this achievement and our Nation's exploration of space, former First Lady Melania Trump is launching a limited-edition digital collectible, 'Man on the Moon,'" a press release stated. "The limited-edition collectible includes the iconic image of the American astronaut walking on the moon, with an embedded audio file. Collectors will unlock surprise audio upon purchase."
"I am proud to celebrate the great achievement of these astronauts and remain inspired by American ingenuity," the former first lady said in the release.
They're going for $75.
Ironically, the moon landing happened before the former first lady was even born. The astronauts hit the foreign world on July 20, 1969, and Mrs. Trump was born that following April.
The Trumps have spent the years since leaving the White House offering a number of Trump trading cards, but most of them feature AI-generated images of the former president in various outfits and in times throughout history.
Previous NFTs offered by Melania Trump ended with her buying them herself for $185,000, which led to hefty mockery.
