The five-vehicle collision happened about 1:43 a.m. Friday in the southbound lanes of the freeway near the 66th Avenue offramp, the CHP said.
OAKLAND– One person was killed and another was badly injured in a multi-vehicle crash Friday morning on Interstate 880 in East Oakland, the California Highway Patrol said.
No information was released immediately about the identity of the person killed or the conditioin of the person who was injured.
The five-vehicle collision happened about 1:43 a.m. Friday in the southbound lanes of the freeway near the 66th Avenue offramp, the CHP said.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene.
Another person, who the CHP said sustained major injuries, was taken to a hospital.
All southbound lanes were initially closed and a SigAlert was issued at 2:19 a.m. All lanes were reopened about 5 a.m.
The CHP is continuing to investigate the crash. Anyone with information is asked to call the Oakland CHP office at 510-457-2875.
