Gavin Newsom on Sunday admitted he’s a regular Fox News viewer, but the California governor doesn’t recommend it to others.
Newsom, during an appearance on MSNBC’s “Inside with Jen Psaki,” said he’s become obsessed with the right-wing cable channel, and believes based on his experience that it's contributing to America’s mental health crisis.
Asked initially if he’s an occasional Fox News viewer, Newsom told Psaki, “not occasionally, every night.”
“And do you think Democrats should still be appearing on Fox or should they not be appearing?” Psaki asked Newsom.
“It contributes to the mental health crisis in the state so on the basis of one's own personal conditions, I would not recommend it,” he says with some laughter.
“My staff has quite literally tried to have interventions with me about it. They say I'm too obsessed with it, but I need to understand it,” Newsom said.
Psaki suggested that he watches Fox because “you want to know what the other side thinks.”
“I don't want to know what they think,” Newsom replied. “I want to see the patterns and what you see are patterns that emerge.”
