Dad has leg amputated after ‘daughter ran over him with a speed boat’ on holiday
A father has had his leg amputated after a horrific accident while on holiday in Italy.
His daughter was driving a speed boat off the coast of Cannigione in Sardinia when she reportedly mixed up the forward gear and reverse.
Air ambulances and La Maddalena coastguard attended the scene and he was rushed to Sassari Hospital, where it was decided his leg had to be amputated, the MailOnline reports.
Local media reported the incident took place close to the beach in the village of Cannigione, and the man’s daughter accidentally ran him over with the speed boat as she reversed when she intended to move forwards.
The village, close to the popular Costa Smeralda, is a popular tourist spot for snorkelling and scuba diving with a picturesque beach.
Four people died in Italy after a boat capsized on Lake Maggiore in May.
A sudden strong wind overturned the boat, and while 19 passengers managed to swim to shore, four including the skipper’s wife were found dead in the water.
