As Connecticut temperatures rise, some swimming spots in the state were closed due to water quality concerns.
Four swimming spots in Connecticut were closed due to water quality concerns even as temperatures were expected to reach the high 80s this weekend.
According to the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, swimming areas at Stratton Brook State Park in Simsbury, Wharton Brook State Park in Wallingford, Lake Waramaug State Park in Kent and Quaddick State Park in Thompson were closed as of Saturday morning.
DEEP said that the department collects water samples weekly for certain bacteria and found that the water quality in these spots wasn’t safe for swimming.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures were expected to reach a high of 87 degrees on Saturday in parts of Connecticut, with some scattered showers and thunderstorms bringing heavy rain in the afternoon.
On Sunday, temperatures were expected to be as high as 82 degrees with more scattered thunderstorms and showers in the late morning and early afternoon.
