A MAN claims his life is being made hell by his neighbour refusing to clean up after his dog, leaving his home infested with bluebottles.
Derek Christie, 61, who has lived at his home with his family for 18 years, complained that because of his new neighbour’s pet he is no longer able to open his windows.
The Glasgow based granddad says his neighbour lets their dog defecate outside of his living room and bedroom windows, and leaves the mess there for prolonged periods of time.
He also claims that his home has become infested by flies and bluebottles because of the dog waste being left outside.
Derek says he has complained to the SSPCA and reported the issue to Link Housing officers, but the situation has not changed.
He said: “I have lived at this address for the last 18 years with my wife and three daughters. We got this house through social work back in July 2005 as I was house bound in my previous house due to many stairs.
“The tenant who has now got the flat above us has been completely anti-social with the following: letting his dog foul in front of our living room and bedroom windows, and leaves it lying until he can be bothered to pick it up.
“Link housing staff or homeowners complain to him about this, which he takes great offence at.
“He leaves the dog mess in bags at the side of the stairs to his flat. We cannot have our windows open for fresh air as the smell from this is unacceptable, as is the infestation of flies and bluebottles in our home.”
Derek went on to add that groundsmen will not cut the grass in his neighbour’s garden because of the dog waste that is left there, and he believes this has attracted rats.
He also claims that his grandkids are not able to go outside when they come to visit him because of the situation.
He said: “The groundsmen will not cut his part of his garden due to dog fouling and how cheeky and abrupt he is to them.
“We also have rats now due to the grass not getting cut, we see them at night running about.
“My grandchildren cannot go onto the grass outside our house due to dog waste.”
A Link Housing spokesperson said: “We have received reports of dog fouling at one of our developments in Glasgow.
“Members of our housing team have contacted the tenant concerned and will be visiting next week to investigate and, if necessary, agree on the best way forward.
“Disposal of dog waste is dealt with under the general terms of our tenancy agreements.”
