A teenager from Florida was killed Thursday after the car he was a passenger in struck a utility pole on Route 44 in Salisbury.
According to Connecticut State Police,19-year-old Jason Titunik was in a 2003 BMW X5 driving east just past Twin Lakes Road at about 6:21 p.m. when the driver lost control of the vehicle and collided with a pole in the right shoulder.
Titunik was taken to Sharon Hospital where he was pronounced dead, state police said.
The driver, a 19-year-old from Canaan, suffered minor injuries and was also taken to Sharon Hospital.
State police are still investigating the crash. They are asking any witnesses or those who were driving in the area who may have pertinent dashcam footage to contact Trooper Gina Giannini at Troop B.
