IF your garden is overrun with pincher bugs, one man has shared every hack he has tried to tackle his own infestation.
The green-thumbed influencer revealed the two ingredient DIY trap he uses to tackle the pests.
TikTok user Grant (@gardeninggrant) explained: “I have been battling pincher bugs for the better part of a few weeks, I’ll tell you what I learned.
“This is for if you have an infestation like I did,” he told his followers.
In his video, the TikToker showed viewers the aftermath of the bugs’ feast on his plant leaves.
For his first tip, Grant recommended putting petroleum jelly on the base of the plant stems.
“That way things like slugs and earwigs can’t actually climb up it,” he said.
The content creator also shared the two ingredients he uses in his DIY bug traps.
Showing viewers the base of a plastic bottle, he said: “You can also use something like this and just fill it with some canola oil and soy sauce and make little traps, just make sure they’re level with the soil.”
For his next tip, Grant revealed the tactic he’s “had the most success with.”
The gardening expert recommended: “Spraying diatomaceous earth at the base of the plant.”
He also suggested: “Mixing a couple of tablespoons of neem oil with water and spraying the leaves in the evening.”
Finally, Grant shared the homemade solution he sprays on his plants as a preventative measure.
“You can also try a little homemade garlic spray, just make sure you add in a little dish soap to make sure that it adheres to the leaves,” he said.
TikTok users took to the comments section to share their thoughts on the hacks.
“Diatomaceous earth knocked ’em out for me! We were INFESTED,” wrote one viewer.
Another follower said: “It makes me feel better that I’m not the only one dealing with this. Thanks for the tips!”
“They’re absolutely horrid this year, haven’t been this bad in ages. I’ve been at war with them for weeks,” commented a third person.
