Waves for Wednesday morning
Hello Friends,
A dozen or so surfers were in the water at Dee Why point when I grabbed the snaps around 0830. Sets looked to be in the chest-high range and seemed to be turning up at regular intervals. Wind was light from the NW and swell at sea was 1.3 metres from the SE at close to 13 seconds apart. The Bureau says the wind will pick up a bit as the day goes along and that the swell energy will decrease. So, the plan is to hit your favourite SE spot earlier rather than later. First tide of the day is the high at 0945. Water’s clean and sitting on 18. Weather should remain mostly sunny as we head to a high of 21 along the coast.
Outlook is for small to tiny conditions into the weekend. It currently looks like we might get a small uptick into the waist-plus range at south magnets early next week.

Winds are expected to turn west to northwesterly during Wednesday as a trough over inland New South Wales moves east and offshore. During the second half of the week, westerly winds are likely to strengthen as a series of troughs move across the coastal waters.

- Westerly 10 to 15 knots turning northwesterly 15 to 20 knots in the early afternoon and increasing to 15 to 25 knots in the evening.

- Around 1 metre, increasing to 1 to 1.5 metres later in the evening.
- Swell
- Southerly around 1 metre.
- Weather
- Mostly sunny.
Friday 7 July
- Winds
- Northwesterly 20 to 25 knots turning westerly during the morning. Winds reaching up to 30 knots offshore during the afternoon and evening.
- Seas
- 1 to 1.5 metres, increasing to 1.5 to 2 metres offshore.
- Swell
- Southerly below 1 metre.
- Weather
- Sunny.
