Ignore What Manchester City Said They Paid For Erling Haaland – Liverpool Legend

 

Haaland joined Manchester City last summer from Borussia Dortmund and played a massive role in Pep Guardiola’s side becoming the second English team to win the treble.

 

The Norwegian scored 52 times in 53 appearances for Manchester City and was the difference maker as the club won their first Champions League crown.

 

 

The Premier League champions triggered a release clause in his Dortmund contract to sign Haaland but Aldridge stressed that the on-paper value of the striker is wide of the mark.

 

He claimed that the overall package to take the forward to the Etihad last summer was more than £100m, well above the release clause value.

 

 

Aldridge wrote in his column for the Sunday People: “When you read stories saying Man City only paid a little over £50m to get Erling Haaland last summer, please ignore them.

 

“On paper, the fee paid to sign the big striker may have been close to that, but I have been told by very reliable sources that the overall package to make that deal happen was well in excess of £100m.”

 

 

Manchester City removed a release clause in Haaland’s contract when Pep Guardiola signed a new deal with the club last season.
