According to a report in BILD (20/06/23 as relayed by Sport Witness), Tottenham Hotspur could launch a big-money offer for Bayer Leverkusen defender Edmond Tapsoba.
Alasdair Gold reported via Football.London a couple of days ago that wholesale changes are expected in central defence at Spurs this summer, with the club looking to bring in two new centre-backs.
One of the names who has been mooted as a target for the North London club over recent days is Tapsoba, with Fabrizio Romano revealing on his YouTube channel on Tuesday that the Lilywhites have been following the Leverkusen star for ‘a long time’ and hold a ‘very strong interest’ in him.
Bild have now also backed up that claim, reporting that Spurs see the 24-year-old as a ‘very interesting’ option this summer.
It is asserted that Taposoba is firmly ‘in the sights’ of Ange Postecoglou’s men, who could launch an offer of over €50m (£42.9m) for the player over the coming weeks.
Spurs Web Opinion
Tottenham’s interest in Taposoba appears to be genuine, given that some reliable sources have now carried this story.
However, I do not see Spurs being prepared to pay anywhere near £40m for the Burkina Faso international, given that there are homegrown options like Marc Guehi who would only cost a little over that amount.
