57 Cars On Watkins Glen Entry
The entry list for the 2023 Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen is set to equal the largest ever for the event, with 57 cars entered for the race which will be held on June 25th.
If 57 cars take the start, it will tie the number of cars that competed in the Six Hours in 1984 – a race won by Al Holbert, Derek Bell and Jim Adams in a Porsche 962 GTP.
For the first time since the 12 Hours of Sebring in March, all five WeatherTech Championship classes will feature for what is the third of the four Michelin Endurance Cup races on the calendar.
In the GTP class there are nine cars entered, the same nine that competed at Laguna Seca. The only difference is the addition of third drivers at Action Express and Wayne Taylor Racing. The category is due to grow to 10 entries at Road America in August, when Proton Competition’s Porsche 963 makes its IMSA GTP debut with Gianmaria Bruni and Harry Tincknell at the wheel.
In LMP2, AF Corse adds a ninth car to the category with an ORECA for three of its WEC drivers Lilou Wadoux and Luis Perez Companc from GTE and Nicklas Nielsen from the 499P Hypercar programme. TDS Racing’s third driver for the #35 ORECA is still not confirmed.
AF Corse also adds to the GTD Pro entry with a Ferrari 296 GT3 for Miguel Molina, Ulysse De Pauw and Simon Mann.
The AF Ferrari adds to the return of the #63 Risi Competizione Ferrari of Daniel Serra and Davide Rigon, as well as Iron Lynx’s Lamborghini for Andrea Caldarelli and Jordan Pepper and Turner Motorsport’s BMW M4 GT3 from the regular Endurance Cup pack. The total number in the class is nine cars.
GTD sees few changes, though Luke Berkely adds to the #42 NTE Sport Lamborghini line-up, he will drive with Jaden Conwright and an unconfirmed third driver. There is also a TBD in the Racers Edge Motorsports with WTR #93 Acura line-up that currently has just Danny Formal and Kyle Marcelli listed.
There are 10 cars listed in LMP3.
