Body of woman, 22, found bricked up inside wall nine years after she vanished
A YOUNG woman’s body has been found bricked up inside a wall nine years after she disappeared in Costa del Sol.
Spanish cops began searching for the remains of Sibora Gagani, 22, shortly after her ex-boyfriend confessed to killing her last month.
The suspect, Marco Gaio Romeo, 45, had been detained over the murder of another former partner, Paula, on May 17.
The couple had lived in the resort town of Torremolinos on southern Spain’s Costa del Sol, the Daily Star reports.
Paula, a 28-year-old Italian, was allegedly stabbed 14 times by Romeo, who is the father to one of her three children.
After the Italian suspect was arrested over her murder, he also confessed to murdering Sibora after seeing her missing poster still hanging in the police station.
According to sources, he is said to have admitted using acid to dissolve her body.
When Spanish police searched the couple’s former apartment on June 6, they made the horror discovery of Sibora’s suspected remains inside a bin bag stuffed behind a wall.
The apartment, which is close to the police station, had been searched several times before – but nothing had been found.
New tenants currently live in the property and have been cooperating with police in their investigation.
The remains have been sent for DNA testing to confirm they belong to Sibora.
The Albanian-Italian victim had moved to the the British holiday hotspot with Romeo in 2011.
She vanished three years later on July 7, 2014 – shortly after ending their relationship.
Romeo had long claimed that his former girlfriend had left the flat with all her belongings.
However, Sibora’s relatives immediately suspected he was behind her disappearance after hearing of his arrest over the murder of Paula.
Since admitting his guilt, cops have found Sibora’s belongings hidden in his apartment.
Romeo was registered in Spain’s system for monitoring gender violence, however no complaints were reportedly made against him by either of the murdered women, Murcia reports.
