This Morning fans gobsmacked to discover Craig Doyle’s real age as he hosts with Holly Willoughby for first time
THIS Morning fans were staggered today when it was revealed hunky new host Craig Doyle was a lot older than he looked.
The star, who’s hosted with Alison Hammond before, took Phillip Schofield‘s place alongside Holly Willoughby today.
The star, who was a familiar face in the UK a decade ago before working in Ireland, appeared on This Morning with Holly for the first time.
Many viewers weren’t familiar with him and Googled who he was when the show was on air.
And several spoke about how astonished they were to learn that Craig is 52 years old.
One wrote: “Enjoying Craig Doyle on the telly but am in shock that he’s 52! Yikes – hope I look half as good when I’m that age!”
Another wrote: “Omg are u serious. That can’t be true. Why are all the men I like in my mums age bracket.
“He is so hot, I thought maybe late 30s early 40s.”
A third This Morning viewer said simply: “I can’t believe Craig Doyle is 52!!!”
Craig is best known as a presenter for BT Sport covering Rugby Union and MotoGP and a number of BBC shows including The Holiday Programme and Tomorrow’s World.
He won over This Morning fans from his very first stint on the show, when he did holiday cover on a bank holiday Monday.
One tweeted: “Craig and Alison are great together and Craig is a revelation! The new presenters are all excellent and a breath of fresh air on the show.”
It was a similar story today with Holly, when they teamed up to eat Spam and interview tennis legend Sue Barker.
The pair were seen messing about together and were even shown joking together in a section they didn’t appear to know was being broadcast.
One fan wrote: “I really enjoy Josie but I think Holly works better with Craig. Holly seemed really happy this morning & Craig fitted in just fine! Great chemistry.”
Others called for the partnership to become permanent. One posted: “Craig Doyle’s an absolute joy isn’t he?
“He’s very natural & clearly gets on well with Holly. Could he be the perfect replacement for you know who?”
Holly is the sole main presenter of This Morning now Phillip has left after admitting lying about having a relationship with a younger male colleague.
The 61-year-old star called the decision “unwise but not illegal”.
As well as being axed by ITV, Phillip was dropped by his agents and has lost several lucrative brand deals.
