FRANKIE DETTORI is gearing up for another epic Epsom Derby THIS Saturday – but it means the legendary jockey is edging closer to having his last race on the saddle.
The Italian stallion, 52, revealed in December 2022 that he has made the tough decision to hang up his riding boots this season.
And after a 35-year career making headlines in the sporting industry, Dettori is ready to dedicate more of his time to his family once again.
But when will the horse-riding magician officially call it quits on his illustrious career?
Frankie Dettori announced the shocking news on ITV that retirement has been on his mind for a while and that he’ll be saying his goodbyes at the Bredders’ Cup this year.
The Breeders Cup will get underway on Friday, November 3 before concluding on Saturday, November 4.
In 2022, the Italian icon said “It’s something that I’ve been thinking about for a while. This is going to be my finale next year.
“I’m riding Boxing Day in Santa Anita and planning to spend about 10 weeks in California and then I’ll make my way back, with Dubai and Saudi in between, to start the season in Newmarket.
“I’ll be riding right through and it’ll be my last Guineas, my last Derby, my last Royal Ascot and so on.
“Then I’ll have the final farewell at the Breeders’ Cup.”
But fans are relieved that they will be treated to more Dettori action at this year’s Epsom Derby.
