UK weather forecast: Brits to bask in glorious 22C sunshine this weekend – and clear skies are set to last for days
BRITS are set to bask in 22C sunshine this weekend as clear skies are expected to last for days.
Conditions are set fair for most of next week, according to the Met Office.
The pleasant weather is expected to continue as an area of high pressure bathes the nation in warmth.
Met forecasters are predicting highs in the early 20Cs across the UK, with peaks of 22C in London, Southampton and Glasgow tomorrow.
Late afternoons and early evenings are set to see the warmest temperatures as we see the first signs of summer.
Western areas are also due the hottest weather, with eastern parts a little cooler.
However, even where temperatures don’t break through into the 20Cs, most places can expect highs in the late-teens.
The forecast for tonight reads: “Dry with mostly clear skies overnight. Fragmented cloud moving westwards across parts of England and Scotland.”
Tomorrow is then expected to see early morning mist giving way to a dry day with “long sunny spells”.
Going into next week, the Met states: “High pressure will dominate giving mainly fine and settled weather.
“Warm sunshine for many, although low cloud persisting across parts of the North and East.
“Breezy in the South.”
Beyond that, the long-range forecast suggests that the sunny days and dry weather will continue through to the middle of the month.
The Met does add that there is a chance of “isolated showers” over higher ground, but most parts will see light wind and warmth.
However, they state that the chance of some thundery showers in the South East and southern Wales by mid-June is “small, but increasing”.
It comes after Sun-kissed Brits topped up their tans during a glorious bank holiday weekend that saw the mercury top 21C.
