Donald Trump broke ground on a new golf course even though they tend to lose millions each year. Take a look inside his 16 clubs around the world.

  • Former President Donald Trump owns 16 golf clubs around the world, with more in the works.
  • He hosted a tournament at his Washington, DC club last week and broke ground on a new course in Scotland this month.
  • Trump's courses have historically struggled to turn a profit, according to reporting from Fortune and the New York Times.

Former President Donald Trump's love for golf and his extensive collection of courses continues to receive widespread media attention.

While in office, he went golfing at least 150 times across 298 golf-course visits, according to an online tracker

His post-White House life has been little different, but it still involves ample time on the fairway across his 16 clubs in the US and the UK.

Last week, Trump hosted a Washington, DC-area tournament for LIV Golf, a men's league backed by Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund and its billions. This year, the league will hold events at three of his properties, according to The New York Times. It is unclear how much money the Trump Organization is making from LIV's events, but Trump said on May 25 "that hosting tournaments amounts to 'peanuts for me,'" the Times reported. His affiliation with LIV comes after tension between Trump and the Professional Golfers' Association of America, or PGA, and the PGA Tour.

Earlier this month, he visited Trump International Scotland, a resort in Aberdeen, to cut the ribbon on his second course at that location. There are plans for another course in Dubai, and two more in Indonesia, although Insider reported in December 2022 that construction at the resort in Bali has stalled.

According to a New York Times investigation, his 16 courses lost more than $315.6 million between 2000 and 2020.

In 2012, Trump spent $150 million to buy the National Doral Miami. But over the next six years, the Times revealed, it ended up losing $162.3 million. In 2016, the PGA Tour ended its long-term relationship with the Doral course.

Also, as noted by Slate in 2020, Trump still has a $125 million mortgage on the property that's due this year. In addition, he's lost $63.6 million on his golf courses in Scotland and Ireland combined.

Insider compiled a list of Trump's 16 open and operating golf clubs, along with their amenities, from The Trump Organization. Keep reading for a look inside each.
