A Hartford man faces charges of murder and tampering with evidence in connection with the death of a woman last month.
A Hartford man has been charged with murder in the death of a woman killed in the city last month.
Angel Roman, 41, faces charges of murder and tampering with evidence in the April 26 death of 37-year-old Stephanie Hawes-Brown, according to the Hartford Police Department.
Hawes-Brown of Hartford died of neck compression, according to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
Hartford police this week said officers were dispatched to an apartment at 10 Marshall St. at about 4:56 a.m. on April 26 on the report of a dead female. Hartford police Lt. Aaron Boisvert said the death immediately appeared suspicious, leading to the arrest of Roman that day after investigators were able to establish probable cause and secure a warrant.
Since then, the medical examiner ruled Hawes-Brown’s death a homicide.
Roman is being held in lieu of a $1 million bail. He is scheduled to appear before a judge in the Hartford Judicial District courthouse on July 13. He has not entered a plea to the charges.
