Inside UK’s ‘WORST’ McDonald’s that’s so dangerous it has a knife arch & customers are forced to fight off dogs
THIS is the “worst” McDonald’s in the UK, with a knife arch and reports of dogs stealing food.
The fast food giant’s branch in Croydon, South London, has come under fire for its “rubbish” service and its sometimes dangerous environment.
The restaurant went viral earlier this year when a knife arch was installed on the door following claims that customers had threatened staff with knives.
Customers had also reportedly brought in large dogs to keep staff at bay as they stole food from behind the counter.
Superintendent Mitch Carr, of the Metropolitan Police, told MyLondon about why the arch, which has since been removed after a trial period, was put in.
He said: “People think it’s a bit over the top but we had incidents with people brandishing weapons.
“We heard from staff that people were going in there with huge American bully type dogs who were going behind the counter to steal food.
“There were real issues but anything we can do to make a dent in that is a good thing.”
He added that many of the problems were caused by the fact that up to 200 children flocked to the branch after school each day, with fights and other anti-social behaviour rife.
Online reviewers were no more optimistic about the state of the outlet.
One branded it the “worst McDonald’s“, writing: “Waiting time ridiculous. Service rubbish.
“They never get your order right.
“Do not visit this branch, waste of time and money.”
Another added: “Really really bad food order was all wrong missing fries and got given the wrong burger. Drink was watery.”
Meanwhile, a third fumed: “Another disappointing visit.
“Big order through the drive-thru. Ordered and paid for a double Big Mac, got a standard.
“Bored of being ripped off by this place.”
It comes after the same branch was slammed over a video of staff swinging brooms to chase a rat from the building as it scurried under tables.
The clip was shared across social media, while the company brought in pest control teams to sweep the restaurant.
McDonald’s have been contacted for comment.
