Voting for Turkish citizens begins on Saturday in the north in view of the second round of Turkey’s presidential elections on May 28, which will last for five days from May 20 to May 24.
In the north, three polling stations will operate in Nicosia, Famagusta and Morphou.
Turkish citizens in the north can vote in any city and polling station they wish. However, in Nicosia and Famagusta, voting will last five days from 8 am to 10pm, while in Morphou it will only be possible to vote on the weekend (May 20 and 21) from 9 am to 9 pm.
Tayyip Erdogan, backed by the People’s Alliance and Kemal Kilinçdaroğlu of the National Alliance will lock horns in the second round of Turkey’s presidential election.
The Turkish Cypriot media broadcast the Turkish President’s message to voters abroad through his message to social media. “I beg you to use your democratic right. I expect you, the representatives of our nation abroad, to once again strongly support your will. You showed great favour to me and the People’s Alliance,” Erdogan added in his message.
It was noted that in all ballot boxes abroad during the first round, Erdogan had obtained the majority of votes.
