BBC axes reality show after four seasons with tribute message to fans
THE BBC has axed a reality show after four series – with bosses releasing a tribute message to its fans.
The broadcaster has culled a number of shows recently and now Angels of the North has met its fate.
Set in the North-East, it followed a group of stylists at one of the area’s best known hair salons, Longlox.
The series finale, which aired on BBC Three, saw the women join last year’s Pride march as the drama continued for the cast.
A synopsis for the episode read: “Angels of the North join the Pride march in the series finale! Sammyjo and the Longlox girls are going all out in their support, but how will Sammyjo survive the day wearing nine-inch heels?
“At Pure Ink, Jade is summoning up the courage to pierce her first nose. Can she convince Emma and Dan to be her first customers? Shane and John’s health kick continues with a bike ride from the Angel of the North back to Pure Ink, but there’s an unexpected bump in the road for John.”
BBC bosses have now confirmed that was the final ever episode of the series.
In a statement released to Deadline, they said there are no plans to bring the show back.
“Whilst there are no plans for a further series of Angels of the North, we would like to thank everyone involved in the making of the programme for allowing our audiences to take a glimpse into the big hair and big style from some of the North East’s biggest personalities,” said a spokesperson.
TV fans were recently left devastated after ‘The Tuckers’ was cancelled after three series.
The comedy – which first aired on the BBC in 2020 – has been axed by the broadcaster, who revealed the decision was made to make way for new shows.
