Missing Miramar woman found safe after tip to news station
A missing 30-year old woman from Miramar was reunited with her family, police announced Thursday, after a Good Samaritan called in a tip to a news station.
Courtney Babb was reported missing over a month ago on April 16, according to Miramar Police. She struggles with mental health issues and was likely not taking her medications, her mother, Roberta Robinson said at a news conference Tuesday. Though they had brief estrangements in the past, the past month was the longest the family had gone without hearing from her. Detectives had thought she might be in danger.
“I did not hear from her on Mother’s Day,” Robinson, had said Tuesday, visibly upset. “So I want someone to please, if you’ve seen her, somebody call, because I really miss her.”
The Good Samaritan saw Babb’s picture on the news and called in the tip, Tania Rues, a spokesperson for Miramar Police, said in an email.
Family members described Babb as bubbly, creative and “a little bit silly.” An aspiring singer, she had moved to New York to pursue her dream before returning to South Florida.
Robinson typically used social media to communicate with Babb and send her money, as she didn’t have a phone.
“I will get her like three cellphones and she’ll lose it,” Robinson said. But “… she always texts me when she finds somebody’s phone.”
Babb will be “receiving additional services,” Rues said.
