Voices of Appalachia Performs at Texas African American Museum
On Sunday, May 14, the Voices of Appalachia held a Mother’s Day concert in conjunction with The Texas African American Museum in Tyler, TX. The concert, originally to be held on the museum grounds, was moved to Bethel Hope Bible Church due to inclement weather.
The Texas African American Museum was founded in 2017 by Clarence Shackelford, who felt compelled to preserve African American history and to provide a place for outreach where African American history would be celebrated more often than just February each year. The Museum opened to the public in January 2021.
Sunday’s afternoon concert featured performances by local artists and the headlining, Voices of Appalachia Choir. Executive Director, Gloria Washington, delivered remarks about the goodness of God and the wonderful opportunity to share in our rich and diverse history.
The choir continues their tour through Texas with performances on Wednesday, May 17, at The Conservatory at Alden Bridge in The Woodlands at 3:00 pm and on Thursday, May 18, at Crossroads Baptist Church in The Woodlands at 7:00 pm.
