Journalist explains why Kane may create ‘big problem’ in Spurs manager search
Journalist Dean Jones has suggested that Tottenham are having trouble convincing their top managerial candidates that Harry Kane will remain at the club.
There continues to be plenty of speculation over Kane’s future, with the striker set to enter the final year of his contract this June (Transfermarkt).
Multiple publications have revealed over the last few weeks that the 29-year-old will not hold talks with the Tottenham hierarchy regarding a new deal until the club have a new manager in place.
In fact, Football Insider even asserted recently that Spurs are consulting with the England captain about their managerial search as convincing him to commit to his future is one of the club’s main considerations while zeroing in on a top candidate to replace Antonio Conte.
Jones has now suggested that Tottenham might have a hard time convincing top coaches to take the job if they cannot give any assurances over Kane’s future.
He said on the Ranks FC Podcast: “Now listen, a big problem in recruiting a new coach is convincing them that Harry Kane is going to be there or telling them that he’s not and they’ll have X amount to spend on a new striker, that is a major problem.”

Among the managerial candidates who have been linked with the Spurs job, Nagelsmann is perhaps the only one who might have the leverage to seek assurances regarding Kane’s future.
The likes of Arne Slot, Ruben Amorim and Luis Enrique will probably be happy to get the Tottenham job even if it means that Kane might be sold.
