TV favourites tipped to replace Philip Schofield on This Morning
THE TV legends are reportedly in line to “replace” Philip Schofield on This Morning.
Recently Phil, 61, made an extraordinary last-ditch attempt to save his This Morning partnership with Holly Willoughby.
ITV fans have been speculating who will take Phillip’s famous spot if he were to leave the show.
Here are the latest bets supplied from William Hill.
Dermot O’Leary is a reportedly a joint-favourite to replace Phillip Schofield as the main Monday to Thursday presenter on ITV’s This Morning, it’s been revealed.
The English broadcaster, who already presents the Friday edition of the programme with Allison Hammond, is the 5/2 joint-market leader.
Speaking about this, William Hill spokesperson, Lee Phelps, said: “With speculation over Phillip Schofield’s relationship with fellow presenter Holly Willoughby intensifying over the past few days, Schofield’s position as host on This Morning is looking more untenable by the day.
He continued: “If Schofield were to depart the show, we make Dermot O’Leary the joint 5/2 favourite to assume the role, having already had experience with presenting the Friday edition alongside Allison Hammond.”
Joining him next is Vernon Kay, 49, who is known for fronting numerous shows, mainly for ITV, these include: T4, All Star Family Fortunes, Beat the star, and many more.
“Vernon Kay is the alternative 5/2 favourite to take over between Mondays and Thursdays,” the spokesperson said.
Whilst TV favourite Rylan Clark,34 is (5/1), since bursting onto the scene on The X Factor over a decade ago, Rylan has become one of the biggest stars on British television.
His rise to fame has been meteoric and now he is one of the most sought after TV and radio star’s in the UK.
Eurovision super fan Rylan landed his dream job when it was announced he would be doing the commentary for the famous Song Contest in May 2023.
He takes over from Graham Norton, who will be hosting the event instead.
Next in line to get the high in demand hosting gig is Marvin Humes, 38, (8/1). The TV presenter and radio host used to present the Monday–Thursday late night show across the Capital Network.
Between 2013 and 2018, he also hosted The Official Big Top 40 chart programme on UK commercial radio stations on Sunday afternoons.
Finally, Ben Shephard, 48, (8/1) who is another favourite betted on to get the big job.
Shepherd was a key presenter on the now-defunct GMTV breakfast show and has co-hosted the ITV breakfast show Good Morning Britain with Susanna Reid, Kate Garraway, and Charlotte Hawkins since April 2014.
Philip recently issued a statement after we revealed the TV hosts barely speak off camera.
Phil spoke exclusively to The Sun a day after we revealed their TV relationship was in peril.
The pair looked ill-at-ease on the ITV daytime hit yesterday.
Hours later Phil, 61, gave us a statement in an apparent bid to keep Holly, 42, on side.
Pouring out his heart, Phil said: “As I have said before, Holly is my rock.
“We’re the best of friends — as always, she is an incredible support on screen, behind the scenes and on the phone.
“Holly has always been there for me, through thick and thin. And I’ve been there for her.
“The last few weeks haven’t been easy for either of us.”
Phil took three weeks off the show in March as his brother Timothy Schofield, 54, was convicted of child sex offences.
He is due to be sentenced next week. Phil’s statement added: “My family went through a real ordeal.
“And Holly’s support throughout meant the world to me, as did the support of my bosses at ITV, my editor Martin Frizell and the whole This Morning family, including our amazing viewers.
“And of course Holly has herself been ill with shingles.
“Whatever happens, we still have each other to count on.”
Following the statement, a show source said: “This is desperate stuff from Phil.
“He knows the relationship has been strained.”
Holly has not spoken publicly about Phil since we revealed she wanted to keep hosting even if he left.
