Hurricanes commit Chance Robinson’s ‘best days are ahead of him’ entering senior season at St. Thomas

FORT LAUDERDALE — When St. Thomas Aquinas star wide receiver Chance Robinson committed to Miami at the Hurricanes’ spring game on April 14, he was one of only two skill-position players committed to UM.

Miami had a wave of commitments following Robinson, but the Raiders star said he is still receiving a lot of attention from Hurricanes coaches, and not much has changed in terms of his relationship with the Miami staff.

“Same thing, same way,” Robinson said. “Love, trust, talking to coach (Mario) Cristobal almost every other day, coach (Kevin) Beard, staying in contact with everybody. That’s family.”

Robinson said he speaks about “everything” with UM coaches, and he said he likes what he sees from the Hurricanes’ new offense under coordinator Shannon Dawson.

“I know a lot about the offense,” Robinson said. “I went to the spring game. Everybody can be versatile. I feel like I can do both. I can play outside, I can play inside. Wherever they need me. I’m happy it’s an Air Raid offense, they’re throwing the ball down the field and just throwing the ball everywhere. I like that.”

Although Robinson had a wide variety of college options, he chose the hometown Hurricanes over offers from Alabama, Auburn and Florida State, among others. The St. Thomas standout is rated a four-star prospect in 247Sports’ composite rankings, and he is listed as the No. 23 wide receiver and No. 150 player in the class. Robinson is currently the top-rated player in Miami’s 2024 recruiting class.

Last season, Robinson had 29 catches for 540 yards and 13 touchdowns and was a first-team All-County selection in 2022 after helping lead the Raiders to the Class 3M state title.

“His best days are ahead of him,” St. Thomas coach Roger Harriott said. “Chance is a great leadership asset. He’s really grown into the role. It’s nice to see that he’s matured, both physically and mentally and more importantly, spiritually.”

Robinson said he wants to see the Hurricanes improve on their 5-7 record from last season. In the meantime, he has been in touch with Miami’s group of commits, encouraging them to get ready for their time in Coral Gables.

“I talk to them a little bit and just let them know (when) we come in, it’s just time to work,” Robinson said.
