TAYLOR Swift’s new love Matt Healy once claimed that he would never date her in an unearthed interview.
Taylor and Matty are ready to go public with their romance in Nashville, Tennessee, where the US singer performs this weekend.
It comes a month after it was revealed US singer-songwriter Taylor, 33, had split from actor Joe Alwyn, 32, after six years.
A source close to Taylor said: “She and Matty are madly in love. It’s super-early days, but it feels right.”
But Matty previously said that dating her would made him feel “emasculated” because of her global fame.
They first dated, very briefly, almost ten years ago but timings just didn’t work out.
He told Q in 2016: “I don’t do anything else, right, so it doesn’t leave a lot of room for me going out, or shagging someone.
“So the one time I did have a flirtation with a girl it ends up going everywhere…. I mean, I got on E! News and people were like, ‘Who’s Matt Healy?’ so that was cool.
“But I didn’t make a big deal out of it myself. It’s not really anything to talk about, because if she wasn’t Taylor Swift we wouldn’t be talking about her.
“She wasn’t a big impact on my life. It’s just interesting to me how interested the world is about Taylor Swift.”
He added: “If I had gone out with Taylor Swift I would’ve been, ‘Fucking hell! I am NOT being Taylor Swift’s boyfriend.’ You know, ‘FUCK. THAT.’ That’s also a man thing, a de-masculinating, emasculating thing.”
Eagle-eyed fans have already been speculating the US singer — whose famous British exes include Joe, Harry Styles, Calvin Harris and Tom Hiddleston — is seeing Matty.
Just as Taylor famously leaves “Easter eggs” — secret clues to her fans — in her content, so Matty, too, appears to have hinted at their blossoming relationship.
In January — before they got together — Taylor made a surprise appearance on stage at London’s O2 on the first night of The 1975’s sell-out At Their Very Best tour.
She performed two tracks, The City and Anti-Hero, during which Matty referred to her as “the Queen”.
Taylor was then pictured backstage with his mum, ex-Corrie actress Denise, 64, which sent fans into social media meltdown.
Details of her split from her rumoured fiancé Joe were then conveniently leaked on April 8 — Matty’s 34th birthday — which fans believed was Taylor’s “gift” to her new boyfriend.
