Shaquil Barrett’s wife shares first message after 2-year-old daughter’s drowning death: ‘Our world will never be the same’
The wife of NFL star Shaquil Barrett shared an emotional message to their 2-year-old daughter in her first public comment since the child’s death.
Arrayah drowned after falling into a swimming pool on Sunday, according to the Tampa Police Department, which said the “tragic incident” appeared to be accidental.
“Our world will never be the same,” Jordanna Barrett wrote Wednesday in an Instagram post. “Arrayah was the apple of my eye, and my heart will forever be with hers. I love you so much my baby. I am so so sorry. Until we see each other again, please watch over your siblings and momma and dada. We love you forever and ever and always.”
Shaquil Barrett, who plays for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Jordanna married in 2012 and have three other kids together.
“I can’t wait to see that precious smile again, and just hug you so close,” Jordanna wrote. “I would do absolutely anything. There is no Barrett 6 without you, and we will forever hold your place down here, until we all meet again in heaven.”
Shaquil Barrett, 30, is entering his 10th NFL season and fifth with the Buccaneers. He led the NFL with 19.5 sacks in 2019 and won a Super Bowl with Tampa Bay the next season. He also played for the Denver Broncos and has 54.5 sacks in 115 career games.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Shaq, Jordanna and the entire Barrett family during this unimaginably difficult time,” the Buccaneers said in a statement Sunday. “While no words can provide true comfort at a time such as this, we offer our support and love as they begin to process this very profound loss of their beloved Arrayah.”
In her Instagram bio, Jordanna shared a link to a memorial website where visitors can leave a memory of Arrayah or light a virtual candle to show their love and support.
