Dog bites seven-year-old boy’s arm in pub garden before fleeing
A dog sunk its jaws into a seven-year-old boy in a pub – only for its owners to flee the scene.
On Tuesday afternoon, the child was playing in the garden of the Crows Nest Inn along Ulwell Road in Swanage, Dorset, when the large canine bit his arm.
This left the child in ‘distress’, with an air ambulance called to airlift him to the hospital to undergo surgery.
His injuries, fortunately, were neither life-threatening nor life-changing.
But the dog’s owners – a man and a woman – left the scene before the emergency services arrived after wrangling their dog.
Neither of them left their details, with police now launching an appeal to track down the pair and speak with any witnesses.
Dorset Police have shared an image of the man and the woman holding the dog back moments after the attack.
The force says the dog is believed to be either a German Wirehaired Pointer or an Italian Spinone with a shaggy brown and white coat.
Police Constable Alistair James, of Purbeck police, said: ‘This was understandably a distressing incident for the young boy involved and his family and we hope he makes a full recovery from his injury.
‘We are conducting enquiries into this matter and have obtained an image of a man and woman with the dog that was believed to be involved.
‘We are keen to speak to these people so we can take their account of what happened.
‘I would urge anyone with information relating to their identity to please come forward.
‘I would also ask the man and woman pictured to please do the right thing and come forward.
‘I would also like to hear from any witnesses to the incident who have not already spoken to police.’
