Oaks Christian, Notre Dame, Moorpark softball headline CIF-SS playoff pairings

Oaks Christian softball, the Daily News’ No. 1 team all season, earned a playoff berth into the CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoffs Saturday morning without having to participate in a wildcard game.
This year’s Division 1 bracket consists of eight wildcard games and eight more teams that will await the winners – one being the Lions, who finished the season 26-1-1 under first-year coach Cheyenne Coyle.
Note: Wildcard games are scheduled for Tuesday and first-round games are scheduled for Thursday at 3:15 p.m.
Oaks Christian will await the wildcard winner of Villa Park and Chino Hills and host the first-round game on Thursday at 3:15 p.m. Westlake, a fellow Marmonte League member, is the only other program in the area to earn a spot in the Division 1 playoffs. The Warriors will play at Huntington Beach in a wildcard game Tuesday at 3:15 p.m.
Moorpark, the Coastal Canyon League champions, earned the No. 1 seed in Division 2 and will host El Segundo in the opening round. Notre Dame, the Mission League champions, will host California High. The Division 2 field is loaded matchups that include local teams, including Saugus at Redondo Union; Agoura at Anaheim/Canyon; Hart at North Torrance; Royal at Rio Mesa; and Tesoro at Foothill League champion Valencia.
In Division 3, Sierra Canyon will travel to play Santa Margarita in a wildcard game. Louisville will travel to Capistrano Valley and Quartz Hill will await the wildcard winner of Kennedy and Crescenta Valley.
Burbank Burroughs earned the No. 1 seed in Division 4 and will host Buena High. Highland will host Rio Hondo Prep, Canyon Country/Canyon is at Woodbridge, and Oak Park is at Dos Pueblos.
The CIF finals are scheduled to be played on May 19 and 20.
